What I learned at St. Louis Day of .NET Day 1

  • Agile doesn’t have much to offer small teams.
  • Event Driven Development is apparently another name for MSMQ.
  • WPF has some cool stuff I didn’t realize (“2*” for sizing grid cells).
  • St. Louis has more “Developer Daisies” that I would have thought.
  • Most presenters used Apple laptops, and more than one had problems. One had to cancel because of laptop issues.
  • The sandwiches are better at Ameristar than at America’s Center.
  • UX is very much underrepresented (One bird’s eye view presentation of an outline of a syllabus of an overview of UX… at best).
  • One’s butt gets sore after sitting for the better part of 9 hours.
  • $100 can buy a heck of a good conference.
