ASP.NET Default "Enter" Button

Scott Hanselman posted a tip he found on Developer.com on how to set the default button to trigger when hitting the enter key on a web form: Imagine you've created an ASP.NET Web page with a search button. The user taps a phrase into a text box and presses Enter. On most regular Web pages (think: Google), the form would be submitted and the results returned. In other words, the search button is automatically "clicked" for you. However on an ASP.NET Web page, pressing Enter resubmits the form to the server, but actually does nothing... which is pretty useless, really. So, how do you set...

Wireless Bridging Part 2: Linksys + Linksys = Suck

Read Part 1 A few days ago I posted my impressions of the Linksys Wireless Game Adapter, you probably didn't read it, but in case you did, here's an update: While initial tests were positive, I soon noticed that the WGA started dropping connections exactly like WRT54G it was trying to replace. Oh it lasted longer, but in the end it was just a tease. I hate teases, so I took it back to the store and replaced it with the Linksys wireless-g bridge WET54G. That was my second mistake (the first was above). Had...

Diet Cherry Coke Sucks

Here's an obversvation (not a terribly clever one though, maybe next time): Emily bought some Diet Cherry Coke by accident and I am once again reminded how bad it tastes. Not that I am blaming Emily as the packaging between the two is so similar (and I did the same think with diet caffeine/regular caffeine (shut up, I like sweet carbonated drinks without getting wired all the time) not long ago). In fact, anytime a soda manufacturer tries to put a fruit flavoring in their cola it's a disaster. Cherry, lemon, or lime - it's all horrible. I like a little fresh lemon in...

Wireless Bridging Part 1: The Story of a Wireless Game Adapter

Prior to my recent move to live with my fiancée, I had my network router, Xbox, and TiVo's all on one convenient hub (well the router's hub). Sure I had my primary pc off in another room, using a wireless network card, but it worked well enough and life was pretty good. Then everything changed. The router now sat in the office with my gaming box, my file server, the mrs.-to-be's box, and the ps2 (though I have the adapter, I've never actually used it). That left 2 orphaned TiVo's and sad and lonely XBOX....

Doom 3

Doom 3 has been out for almost a week, and I managed to get my hands on it a few days ago. I have to say, it is pretty much the creepiest game I've played yet. The engine just drips atmosphere and tension. While other games (FarCry) use similar technology, Doom 3 just pushes it's lighting tech to the limits. Crap, I'm starting to sound like Ad, but really the game is pretty kick ass. It doesn't bring too much new to the table, it just does what it does so freaking well. I will admit though, that half the fun was...
